Chess Vocabulary: Middle Game

By Ramya Inapuri, Wizard Coordinator & Instructor in MA

The middle game is the second part of any chess match. Quite simply, it gets its name because it falls between the ‘opening’ or first part, and the ‘endgame’ also known as the final part.

The middle game starts once the chess player has completed setting and developing the pieces on the board. This is also when players begin strategizing their games.
