Maryland 2025 Fall Tournament
It was an amazing day at the Fall 2025 Tournament in Silver Spring, Maryland.
The event was held on November 8th at Flora Singer Elementary School. We were thrilled to welcome 58 young players representing 19 different schools, competing across 3 divisions (K-1, 2-3, 4-5), showing off their focus, strategy, and sportsmanship.
Some highlights from the event include a few scholars mates that were equally gleeful and heartbreaking depending on which side of the board the student sat on. Wizards playing games for fun against tournament players who had a bye round. And there were even a few children who showed up from schools that were not running a Chess Wizards class in the fall session, one of whom got a trophy for coming 5th in his division! We are super excited to be running a class with them again in the winter session.
Special thanks go out to Flora Singer Elementary School for hosting. To all the families that came to support their young players. And to all of our Chess Wizard staff from far and wide who worked so hard to put on this amazing event and helped create such a fun and welcoming environment: Mr. Brick, David Brown, Will Davenport, Christopher Smith, Angeline Cillo, Sean Higgins, Edwin Strode, Luisa Bermudez, Trishana Walker and Ramya Inapuri.

Here’s to celebrating young minds, teamwork, and the power of chess!
